At the end of the negotiations, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin made statement to mass media representatives.
Making comments on the outcomes of high-level meeting, Turkmen leader highlighted constructive character of the talks that went in the atmosphere of openness, understanding and trust. The conditions and perspectives of Turkmen – Russian relations were discusses and specific directions of further cooperation were outlined.
The sides have confirmed long-term and strategic character of interstate cooperation and expressed the willingness to do all necessary for its consolidation and revel of huge potential of mutual partnership, which Turkmenistan and Russian Federation have today.
Special attention was paid to consolidation of universal peace, stability and security. Turkmenistan and Russia demonstrate similarity or proximity of the vision on many subjects of international and regional politics what is a guarantee of successful cooperation of two countries in the world arena. In this context, the practice of mutual support in the UN and other competent international organizations that has proven its efficiency will be continued.
Our countries continue cooperate in efficient counteracting of modern global threats like international terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, transnational organized crime. Such partnership will be carried out both on bilateral level and under international organizations.
Speaking to the press, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov informed that issues of cooperation in the Central Asia were discussed in details during the talks. Turkmenistan and Russia see this region as a strong link of strategic stability in Eurasia and as a place for realization of large-scale energy, transport and ecological projects that have global significance.
Commitment of both countries to close cooperation in Caspian Sea based on the principles of good-neighbourliness, equal rights, mutual respect and interests of all Caspian states, has been confirmed. Turkmenistan and Russia welcome and support signing of multilateral agreements on cooperation in Caspian Sea in trade, economic and transport spheres and number of other directions.
In this context, the importance of port infrastructure of both countries in Caspian Sea, in the ports of Turkmenbashy and Astrakhan, ferry line between these ports and establishment of trade and logistic centre of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan Region was highlighted.
Turkmenistan and Russian Federation stand for regulation of the situation in Afghanistan by peaceful political and diplomatic means based on broad nation-wide dialog under leading role of the UN, for integration of this country into regional economic and infrastructural projects.
during negotiations, steadfast, interested and beneficial character of trade and economic partnership of Turkmenistan and Russian Federation has been noted and mutual willingness to its expansion and diversification was confirmed. Energy, transport and communication, agricultural complex, technologies, service sphere and number of other branches were highlighted among priority direction.
Special place in the talks was given to the dialog of two states in cultural and humanitarian sphere. The sides confirmed the willingness to its further expansion and promotion of the contacts in culture, health protection and sports.
Cooperation in scientific and education sphere, which is expanding every year and carried out on systematic long-term base, was highly appreciated. It is indicated by signing of the agreements on cooperation between the number of leading universities and scientific centres of Turkmenistan and Russia during the visit. It opens good prospects for scientific work, students exchange and formation of joint educational projects and programmes. We highly appreciate and are thankful to Russian for invariable support in training of young Turkmen specialists in its educational institutions, the Leader of the Nation has mentioned.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed special gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for his personal attention to cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Russian Leader expressed the confidence that our country would continue to work efficiently as they did before. He noted that the talks went in very constructive atmosphere and our visions on most of international issues are the same or very similar.
The sides exchanged the opinions of the key and pressing issues on the planet, synchronized the clocks on regional space and paid utmost attention to the development of trade and economic and humanitarian relations.
It was mentioned that Turkmenistan and Russia have number of good perspectives in different directions including in heavy engineering, transport infrastructure, health protection, education, science and culture.
