Competitions in the Turkmen national wrestling (goresh), held on September 18 at the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games have already ended. They became a triumph of the National Team of Turkmenistan; our athletes won 23 gold, 14 silver and 9 bronze medals.
This success is the result of years of tireless training, and abundant experience in their native sport. Overcoming the limits of their capabilities, the medal winners in the national Turkmen wrestling have traversed a difficult path to victory.
Rejepali Orazaliyev, the holder of two gold medals in goresh in the weight category over 100 kg, notes that the awards of the Games “Ashgabat 2017” are of special significance for him. After all, they are won in the home city’s magnificent Olympic Village, in the presence of relatives and friends, who sincerely supportet the athletes and their teammates.
Two-time winner of gold medals in the 5th Asian Games in the weight category 57 kg Allanur Gochov admits that he have been training hard for five years, and participated in the competitions despite the trauma received shortly before the Games, which has not prevent him from achieving success.
Nasiba Surkiyeva, the two-time winner in freestyle and classical style competitions among women in the weight category up to 70 kg, notes that the entire team performed as a well-coordinated mechanism, sharing all sorrows and joys.
Commenting on the competition results, foreign sports commentators emphasize that goresh is the national sport in Turkmenistan, and the victories of athletes at the Asian Games have given a new impetus to development and popularization of the Turkmen national wrestling throughout the world.
