On October 22, it was held a meeting of the Central Commission for elections and referenda of Turkmenistan; the agenda’s main theme was issues related to the preparation and conduct of elections of the President of Turkmenistan to be held according to the Resolution of the country’s Mejlis on 12 February 2017.
During the meeting, attended by members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), working groups established under the CEC, representatives of political parties and public associations, mass media, it was adopted the calendar action plan on preparation and holding of elections. According to the Electoral Code, the Central Commission for elections and referenda of Turkmenistan from October 24, 2016 announces the beginning of the electoral campaign of the President of Turkmenistan. Nomination of candidates will start within 60 days before Election Day.
By the CEC’s decision, appropriate polling stations will be created abroad for our compatriots, who will be abroad, at diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan on Election Day.
Thus, large-scale organizational measures started to be taken from day to day, in strict accordance with the adopted schedule.
Also the Chairmen of Akhal and Mary velayat election commissions reported on preparations for elections of Mejlis Deputies in some districts, scheduled on November 20.
In consideration of the messages submitted and reasoning from further election holding tasks, some other organizational issues were also considered at the meeting, and the appropriate resolutions were adopted.
