Today, the Oguzkhan University of Engineering Technologies has hosted a grand presentation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s book “The Spiritual World of the Turkmen” published in the Japanese language.
Among those in attendance were staff members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, foreign diplomats accredited to our country, newspaper and magazine editors, rectors of Turkmen higher education institutions, teaching staff, students, and media representatives.
Heads and representatives of Japanese higher education institutions – the University of Tokyo, the University of Tsukuba and Kitasato University, which closely collaborate with Turkmen academic institutions, and members of the friendly country’s scientific community joined the ceremony via videoconferencing.
Translated into the Japanese language, the works by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and classics of Turkmen literature are eloquent testimony of the keen interest evinced in Japan in the modern-day development of Turkmenistan and our people’s culture.
Notably, in 2012, the President-authored book “The Grandson who Made the Dream of his Grandfather Come True” was published in Japanese. Professor of International Relations and Advisor to the Sasakawa Peace Foundation Yoshiaki Sasaki, who had translated the book, was awarded the Magtymguly International Prize.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan Hiroyuki Yamamoto stressed that the publication of the book “The Spiritual World of the Turkmen” by the President of Turkmenistan in the Japanese language had once again demonstrated the by-now high level of bilateral relations and would significantly contribute to the strengthening of the traditionally mutually rewarding interstate dialogue.
During the presentation, the sides also noted the two countries’ similar reverent attitudes to their traditions. Turkmenistan and Japan, the speakers said, are the countries with ancient cultures and rich national traditions. A deep respect for the age-old way of life and a strong commitment to ancient customs are an integral part of the Japanese and Turkmen mindsets. Our countries have a shared desire to proceed along the path of innovative development, while preserving our heritage, knowledge and spiritual values accumulated by past generations.
As highlighted, “The Spiritual World of the Turkmen” in the Japanese language gives the excellent opportunity to the people of the friendly country to discover yet more about Turkmenistan and to get a wealth of useful information in their native language about the Turkmen nation’s culture, distinctive customs, unique folk art and spiritual values masterfully described by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Along with that, the edition will be an excellent reference book for our country’s students and schoolchildren who study Japanese at schools and higher education institutions.
As part of the event, an exhibition was organized in the foyer of the Oguzkhan University showcasing the fundamental works by the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that have won great popularity in our country and beyond, as well as research works by students of the University. Thanks to modern technologies, many people from the Land of the Rising Sun had the chance to take a virtual tour of the exhibition.
The ceremony participants sent a message of gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan.
A concert by the University’s performing groups brought the presentation event to a close.
