On the instruction of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairperson of the Mejlis G. Mammedova received credentials from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus to Turkmenistan Andreas Zenonos.
On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, the head of the national parliament congratulated the diplomat on the appointment to the high post and wished him success in strengthening friendship and enhancing cooperation between the two states.
Thanking for the kinds words, the Ambassador, in turn, conveyed the greetings to the President of Turkmenistan on behalf of the leadership of his country and assured that he would use his diplomatic experience and knowledge to build up bilateral partnership.
Stressing that the Republic of Cyprus supports the foreign policy pursued by the Turkmen leader and the international initiatives put forward by him, the diplomat focused on the 25th anniversary of the international legal status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan celebrated this year.
In this context, the head of the national parliament said that Turkmenistan had developed launched the website to provide relevant information on events dedicated to the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, as well as general information about our country and achievements in various fields.
During the meeting, the diplomat was acquainted with the priorities of the socio-economic projects and the programmes on digitalization implemented in Turkmenistan.
Particular attention was paid to the work of the Mejlis. At the same time, the parties spoke in favor of intensifying inter-parliamentary relations as an important factor in bilateral relations.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the national parliament presented the gift to the Ambassador – the book “Turkmenistan is the Heart of the Great Silk Road” by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus to Turkmenistan was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss various areas of cooperation.
As part of the cultural programme, Mr. Andreas Zenonos will visit the Nisa State Historical and Cultural Reserve, get acquainted with the exposition of the Turkmen Carpet National Museum and visit the sights of the capital.
