On July 31, while on a short-term recess in Balkan velayat, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov took a cycle ride around the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone.
At present, in the fast-developing resort cluster, construction is on the uptick of numerous new facilities not only in the hospitality sector, but also in all other spheres - ranging from cultural-entertainment objects to sporting and business-exhibition one.
Moreover, the President of Turkmenistan devotes close attention to the development of the resort’s sports infrastructure, creation of conditions for holding mass sport events and showcases, including the incipient sport disciplines in our country.
The head of state emphasizes the necessity of taking good care of the environment, maintaining the favorable ecological balance, for “Avaza” is mainly a recreation-oriented resort, given the maritime region’s unique climatic conditions and its curative spa resources.
In the foreseeable future, a number of new health centers and world-class luxury hotels will rise on the ecologically clean Caspian Sea coast. A new seaport terminal, full-scale entertainment and amusement infrastructure, including cinemas, yacht- and sport-clubs, an Oceanarium, will be built there. This all is aimed at providing quality-of-life improvements to the Turkmen people and for their benefit, the head of state stressed.
Special accent was placed on rendering high-standard comfort conditions and services to holidaymakers in “Avaza”, what is of particular importance in the summer time – a holiday season, when people come there to spend their holiday with their families and children. All favorable conditions should be created for a good rest of the people, their interesting, worthwhile leisure activities, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov highlighted. In this context, it is also advisable to actively use the most ecologically clean means of transport – bicycles, to lay cycle travel routes, etc. In prospect, “Avaza” will be able to host large bicycle races, including the ones of international level.
… Then the President of Turkmenistan went fishing on the seashore. As known, the wide diversity of fish species in the sea is conditioned by ecological cleanness of the Caspian Sea’s Turkmen coast, its clear water, rich ichthyofauna and flora. A salient feature of the Caspian Sea is in the following: many of the marine animals and plants of the Sea are endemics – they live only in that water area of the Sea.
Our country actively cooperates with the littoral states in protecting the marine environment of the Caspian Sea, in tackling the region’s burning ecological issues, carrying out joint projects and scientific researches. Noteworthily, Turkmenistan was the region’s first countries to ratify the Framework Convention for Protection of the Caspian Sea’s Marine Environment.
In the running year’s May, our country ratified the Protocol for Protection of the Caspian Sea against Pollution from the Inland Sources and Activities, and the Protocol for Preservation of Biological Diversity to the Framework Convention for Protection of the Caspian Sea’s Marine Environment.
The President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov’s constructive initiatives advanced at the UN General Assembly sessions, the “Rio-20” World Summit, and other large international forums have won wide support of the world community of nations. One such is to open in Ashgabat the Regional Center for Climate Change-Related Technologies in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea, another one - to work out a special UN Program for Preservation of the Caspian Sea’s Ecological Wellbeing, and others.
Implementation of the President-initiated important projects aimed to preserve biodiversity, natural landscapes, ecological cleanness of the Caspian Sea’s Turkmen coast is plentifully awarding. The corollary of it is considerable increase over recent years of the fish fauna diversity, long since considered the treasures of the Caspian Sea’s Turkmen coast.
After the fishing, the President of Turkmenistan has highlighted the need to get the matters of protecting the Caspian Sea’s biodiversity and ecological environment, under permanent control. These places are of special interest to the eco-tourism; and observation of living organisms in their natural habitat is becoming one of its most popular trends throughout the world.
